Building community through shared outdoor adventures
Wilderness Queers started back in 2022 when I was going through a lot of life changes and wanted to get deeper into nature as a way to help me deal with post pandemic life. I also wanted to do it alongside other queer people in the Bay Area, and maybe make some friends along the way.
Our first event was at Rodeo Beach on a cold and rainy day and to my surprise 19 people showed up. Ever since then we've hosted all kinds of nature events, and over the past year we've leaned more into camping. The goal hasn't really changed: bring queer people of all kinds together and build a little community, even if it's just for a few hours a month.
I hope to see you on the trail.

A few moments from trips we've taken together.

We organize a variety of outdoor activities for all skill levels:
Whether you're looking for a gentle stroll through a redwood grove or a challenging summit attempt, we've got something for you.
All LGBTQ+ folks and allies are welcome. We celebrate diversity in all its forms.
We go at the pace of the group. Every skill level is valued and supported.
We respect and protect the wild spaces we explore for future generations.
We're here to have fun. No gatekeeping, no judgment, just good times outdoors.
