Camping in Eldorado National Forest

About this Adventure

Join us for a queer camping trip in Eldorado National Forest. We're looking for 8 campers to spend three nights together at a quiet reservoir in the Sierra. This trip is specifically for members of the LGBTQ+ community - sorry, allies, this one's just for us.

It's a chance to connect with fellow queer folks in a welcoming, relaxed, nature-filled setting: swimming, paddling, fishing, hiking, and lounging by the water. Mid-July at 5,300 ft means warm days, cool nights, and long evenings around the fire.

Cost: $30 per person to help cover the campsite share.

What you'll need: You're responsible for your own transportation and camping gear. We'll set up a shared spreadsheet so people can offer or request rides and gear once accepted.

We share the exact location, itinerary, packing list, and travel details with confirmed attendees only.

Accessibility

The campground sits at around 5,300 feet in the Sierra. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, grill, and bear box. Restrooms are vault toilets, and potable water is on site (the water system is tested monthly during the use season). The Forest Service lists an accessible fishing platform on the reservoir at the facility, plus a picnic area with 4 sites described as accessible. A wheelchair-accessible interpretive trail is within 5 miles of the campground.

We don't have verified info on whether internal campground roads or individual site spurs are paved, exact distances from parking pull-ins to tent pads, or cell coverage in the area, so plan for limited service and uneven natural surfaces between sites. For specific access questions, the Pacific Ranger District (Eldorado National Forest) at 530-644-2349 is the authoritative source.
